Our services (in person) are only available to healthy people, without symptoms, and preferably with covid-19 vaccination certificate, observing the operative hygiene measures.

MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT USING THE LIBRARY

Any person over 18 can join the library and use it's services, but only the students, teachers and staff-members of our university, the Moholy-Nagy Laszlo University and the art historian department of other hungarian universities are entitled to borrow documents. An ID card with photo is also necessary to get the library membership.

ABOUT THE COLLECTION
The Hungarian University of Fine Arts Library, Archives and Art Collection has one of the most valuable art related book collections in Hungary. The Hungarian University of Fine Arts and the collection was funded in 1871. Due to the professional and precise acquisition, by the turning of the 19th and 20th century an exceptional collection emerged. Not only the essential academic teaching materials and documents, but also different special collections established: photographs, posters and lithographs, graphics collection, japanese woodcuts and sample sheets, 19th century ornamental sample sheets, etc. These items are not only relics of the past educational methods but art pieces too. The collection of the university reflects all areas that are requisite in the academic art education.
The original neo-renaissance wood panel galleried reading rooms with decorated wrought iron grills and the original furniture are recall the atmosphere of the turning of the 19th and 20th century.
Most foreign art journals are only available in Hungary at the library of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. Services provided by the library and the archive are at the disposal of artists, researchers, students and lectures of different departments and institutes who wish to use images to enhance their work.
