Dr Fruzsina Nagy DLA
As a costume designer she is interested in the relationship of the human body and its surrounding world in every aspect: costumes, masks, make-up, fashion or visuals. She always seeks freedom her work, sometimes in the form of hidden details. The lack of resources that defined the Eastern and Central European milieu, she grew up in, has pushed her to rely heavily on her creativity, to think outside the box in order to overcome obstacles and bring to life costumes and masks that are both challenging and have a storytelling capacity. As a director she is co-founder and co-creator of Catwalk Concert Productions, a performing art genre that merges a choir concert experience with theatre and a fashion show. In their so-called catwalk concerts singing models move around a catwalk-like stage in extreme and abstract costumes. In 2014, she got her DLA diploma from the Hungarian Academy of Drama and Film for a study on the teaching methods of theatrical masks and make-up. She is currently Assistant Professor at The Hungarian University of Fine Arts in Budapest, where she often involves the students in the production processes and push them to experiment with new territories.
Dr Ildikó Tihanyi DLA
She is a costume and set designer based in Budapest, working also internationally both for film and theatre productions. She studied first production and costume design, she made her MA degree at the University of Theatre and Film (SZFE) in Budapest at the Film Design Department, where she obtained her doctorate as well. Later on she deepened her knowledge with an experimental approach within the framework of fashion design at the Moholy - Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME). Since her first theatre production in 2009 she is constantly looking for new ways and possibilities and has been continuously defining and redefining her approach to different design processes. The conscious mixing of different eras creates a specific visual language in her designs. Anachronism used as a tool brings different eras into collision in both her set and character designs. She likes to experiment with how the imprint of a historical era and our contemporary everyday life can be present at the same time. She started teaching at the University of Theatre and Film in Budapest in 2018, since 2022 she has been Assistant Professor at The Hungarian University of Fine Arts in Budapest. She is passionate about teaching the new generation of designers, which is a vivid dialogue between the students and her as a teacher.
