Interview series on International Week 2024 – Lidija Nikčević

The Hungarian University of Fine Arts organised its highly successful International Week from 22-26 April 2024.
Guest speakers from Europe, Asia and Africa visited all the venues of our University and gave lectures or workshops on a very special topic to students and visitors from partner institutions.
Four foreign speakers from Ghana to Indonesia were interviewed and are published here under the News.

Lidija Nikčević, The Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Montenegro

Could you introduce the Faculty of Arts at University of Montenegro?
The Faculty of Fine Arts of University of Montenegro was founded in 1988. Faculty offers four study programs: Painting, Sculpture, Graphic Design and Conservation and restauration, on the Basic and Master level of studies. Studies are realized as: 3 years of Basic studies + 2 years Master studies. FFA has aim to develop different artistic disciplines in accordance with contemporary practices, although it equally fosters traditional artistic approaches. The Faculty successfully develops international cooperations and it becomes a truly international institution that has realised partnerships with numerous art faculties from the EU. Projects and mobility programs increases the recognition of FFA in the international community and play a crucial role in the affirmation of our professors and students at the international level.

Can you mention something special or something tipically local about your faculty?
FFA is among the leading units of University of Montenegro when it comes to international cooperation within the Erasmus+ mobility program. The new FFA building covers over 5000 square meters and provides students and teaching staff with enviable working conditions. The faculty has modern equipment for the teaching process of all artistic disciplines, including the significant part of the art materials, which encourages both domestic and foreign students to enroll at our faculty. It is also important to point out that almost all subjects are available to choose, regardless of study year or study program that incoming Erasmus students attend in their home institutuion.

What is your current project, what are you currently working on?
In order to continue improving the internationalization of our institution, the plan is to realise more mutual projects and exhibitions with partner institutions, and we also tend to continue with previously started collaborations such as FLUID design forum, IPAF (International Performing Art Festival) etc. FFA is also preparing traditional student’s annual exhibition in the end of the study year.

What have you found most interesting about our university?
The first positive impression about HUFA is the appearance and the atmosphere of the university main building which has a special traditional and historical spirit. I was also amazed with large and well lighted spaces of the studios and excellent working conditions, as well as diversity of study programs and different artistic disciplines available to students. I have also felt great creative potential of your students and incredible freedom of their artistic expressions. I would like to emphasize the hospitality of the Staff Week organizers, their dedication and kindness towards all participants, also the content of the lectures and workshops, as well as the presentation of the university. Everything in general made complete and exceptional impressions about university. I will defenitely highlight the experiences from my stay at HUFA as a great recommendation to our students and colleagues.
