Record number of applicants for the Stipendium Hungaricum programme at The Hungarian University of Fine Arts
The application period of the Stipendium Hungaricum programme for the academic year 2025/2026 has closed, with the number of applications received by the Hungarian University of Fine Arts exceeding all expectations. A total of 179 applications were received from 40 different countries, a significant increase compared to the previous year. This increase is also due to the much wider range of courses on offer this year.
According to the statistics, it is clear that there is greater interest in short- study programmes (separate BA and MA programmes) than in long-study (undivided) programmes.
Distribution of applications:
Visual Art BA: 65
Fine Arts MA: 60
Painting OTM: 7
Graphic Arts OTM: 16
Sculptor OTM: 13
Doctoral School DLA: 18
The next step is a formal check, after which the sending countries nominate the candidates they think are the best. After that, the selection procedure of the The Hungarian University of Fine Arts will decide who will be admitted to the programme. As the institution expects to recruit between 3 and 5 students per degree programme, competition between applicants is expected to be fierce.
This extraordinary interest shows the growing international recognition and attractiveness of the institution in the field of arts education. The coming weeks promise to be an exciting time for both applicants and The Hungarian University of Fine Arts.
